Setting the tone. The bus is running better than ever and we got to spend a weekend in the forest with friends. A great start.
The wild pack of kids we unleashed went through clothes fast, trouncing about in the mud and streams collecting tadpoles and hunting Sirenhead. When the rains came they piled in the bus and played Pokemon and read together.
Finally the sun emerged and brought perfect weather with it. We spent the entire day set up at the beach, picnicking, swimming, kayaking, and just generally smothering sand all over every possible spot on our bodies. A weekend completely filled with things “kids these days don’t do anymore.”
At night we cooked over the fire and projected Wild Robot and NHL Hockey Finals on the side of the bus using my early Father’s Day gift, then slept like a baby.
Today, I look forward to visiting small West Virginian mountain towns while meandering down the country roads up and around those mountains.
Let’s hope being surrounded by trees and friends becomes the standard for this trip every day going forward. Let’s also hope I remember to take more pictures going forward.
