Cedar Sink Trail, Mammoth Cave National Park, KY
Let’s be honest, I’d wager that nearly 99% of visitors to Mammoth Cave NP are coming for the features below ground.
On driving days, we try to fit a small activity into the morning before taking off, so on our way out of the area we stopped on the lesser visited side of the park and hiked down to the Cedar Sinkhole.
This was the first time this trip we got to experience Amy’s amazement eyes. She stared up looking around at the massive rock above us that once would have been the ceiling for this underground river turned cave. It must have been quite an event to witness when the roof came crashing down creating this massive sinkhole.
As always, I promised Amy I would not share the videos she films for her students, so here it is.
