A few years ago Amy began mentioning how she’d like to see the Bonneville Salt Flats some day and then she went on to explain all about how they formed or something, who cares. I was busy adding it to my list of places to surprise Amy with someday.
Yesterday, she got all giddy when I told her we are going to arrive at the salt flats today. A small surprise I’ve been hiding. She immediately took out her North American geology book and reread all the pertinent parts, pausing every paragraph to explain how amazing it all is.
Today I got to watch her walk out on the salt flats and do that look of awe she does.
She loves learning why the earth looks the way it does, and I love taking her to see it.

Amy just looked off in the distance and said “you see those snow capped mountains right there, I want to go up there.” The list never shrinks.
