Yosemite National Park, CA 3

The Yosemite Valley creates a perfect ten mile loop made just for biking. I have always looked forward to riding the loop as a family. I assumed it would take a few years but Everest has made a lot of progress and assured me he could complete the loop and all the side trails and so we set off to live the dream today instead.

We popped the younger kids in a trailer and cruised around the valley. It was perfect. We were surrounded by enormous trees that are dwarfed by the granite cliffs that drew me here. We ate lunch in the grand dining hall at the famous Ahwahnee Hotel. We then took the short hike to Yosemite Falls, the boys took off scrambling up the rocks to the base of the falls, I was too impressed to stop them and we found some really exciting off trail fun. (Later that night the valley was abuzz with the sounds of sirens and a rescue Helicopter, rumor has it a man ran from a bear and jumped off these very falls, surviving, campers in the valley heard his calls for help and called 911.)

At night we went to Curry Village for the ecologist talk about Frogs in Yosemite before walking back home.
