Gettysburg, PA

One of my favorite spots to visit on Earth happens to sit a mere 2.5 hours away from home and I intend to visit every chance I can get. Amy snapped this beautiful picture of General Meade in the early morning hours during her run.

Every time I visit, I leave feeling better about the world than I did before I came. These grounds serve as a small reminder that good eventually triumphs over evil and you get to pick which side you’re on. I’ve mentioned this before but I really like the questions it forces my kids to ask. I really like the questions it forces me to ask. Visiting Gettysburg helps shape who they will be, it challenges perspective and helps you pick your side.

Outside of all the historic aspects that draw me to Gettysburg, this town just has one of my favorite vibes. I love the small crowds that walk the charming streets dotted with cute shops and restaurants. At night the town remains busy with ghost tours and people out for a good time. Every time I am here, I leave while planning the next trip back.

This visit we got a little silly and indulged in a ghost tour and ghost talk that were not exactly my regular cup of tea, but I like to experience everything always, so this was a good one to cross off the list. We walked around and held flashing devices that occasionally went beep beep and screeeetch. I didn’t see any ghosts.
