Scavenger The Elder

The best photographer I know is Scavenger The Elder. We met while hiking the Appalachian trail and became tramily fairly quickly and nine years later I am lucky to call him one of my best friends. Whenever he visits, it feels like I just had a professional photographer follow us around documenting my family growing up. I have many of his pictures hanging in my home and I could fill my entire house with images of his I love. They are often of the most monotonous daily routine but somehow portray the feelings of the moment in ways I am never able to capture. Strap Maple into her car seat… a work of art, catch a pesky country mouse…. A masterpiece. I am jealous of Scavengers will power, his integrity and moral fortitude are second to none, but I’m so shallow that I am even more envious of his ability to capture such emotion in his photography.

Here are just some of my favorites from the Scavenger Photography Hall of Fame followed by the moments he captured on his most recent visit.

Scavenger is a nomad who leads a fascinating life galavanting around the globe. Most recently he biked the length of Japan. It turns out he is good at photographing more than just my family. He keeps a blog which helps us keep track of him, check it out.
