Of all the cute towns scattered amongst the backroads of West Virginia, perhaps the cutest is Thomas, West Virginia. Tucked away into the mountains far from people and the challenges they bring, Thomas is filled with quaint shops, art galleries, and the stylistic architecture that made the early 1900s stand out. Thomas is the quintessential tiny town Americans hope to visit when they plan their summer road trip itinerary. Life is older here, older than the sea, older than the mountains, older than the breeze. Country roads taking me far from home to places we have never known.
When in Thomas, you eat at the Purple Fiddle, so we ate at the Purple Fiddle. A delicious tradition we discovered 15 years ago when we first started backpacking in our favorite wilderness area long before kids were even a possibility.
We rode through on our way to the wild Canaan Valley.
