Red Oak II, Route 66

Red Oak II is an eccentric town from a time long ago or perhaps from a time that never existed.

Today we found ourselves on historic Route 66 which used to be an incredible tourist attraction itself, allowing drivers to slowly take their time and cross the country with infinite opportunities for fun. I would have really enjoyed the height of Route 66 as it’s exactly what I strive for each year with my trip. One of the opportunities for fun is the forgotten town of Red Oak II, an actual private community with current residents, it displays outdoor art, rusting airplanes, and antique machinery which add to the unique architecture and strange feel of community.

We used this odd roadside attraction to stretch our legs on our way to Kansas.

  1. Great pics! Love the sign. We just returned from a trip to Arizona where we enjoyed some Rt. 66 nostalgia!
