We spent the weekend camping, kayaking, hiking, and biking. The weather has been perfect but the campgrounds are empty, the best recipe for camping. We woke up early and went biking over the appropriately named “Humps and Bumps” trail, the very attraction that had the boys begging us to come back to this campground. After a long debate about whether ice cream is better before or after kayaking, the kids won and we biked over to the camp store for ice cream to recharge before paddling around the lake, we found a beaver lodge that I would revisit in the morning to check for an elusive beaver. We spent the afternoon at the beach where the youth built and played and the elderly lounged and read. The water was so cold that Amy decided to swim, as is tradition. At night I enjoyed photographing the kids as they walked along the docks. In the chilly morning, only Maple wanted to hike, and everyone else would regret this decision, we decided to walk to the beaver lodge and watched a beaver swim around and do beaver things for about fifteen minutes.
