Allegheny National Forest- Pennsylvania

Six years ago, I made a mental note that I thought I had found the greatest campground in Pennsylvania. I always planned to come back just to make sure I hadn’t enforced some sort of Covid bias on my claims.

Turns out, I was right. Willow Bay In the Allegheny National Forest is one of those unique spots that I am nervous to share, worried my peaceful spot will become overrun, luckily for me, no one reads my blog.

The Allegheny National Forest is my very favorite part of Pennsylvania and Amy and I have been returning to the area forever and never cease to find more to love.

Months ago, we landed a spot right along the Allegheny Reservoir with our own private waterfront and our closest neighbor was an Osprey. We kayaked throughout the weekend with infrequent breaks to bike around. The grandparents came and watched the kids long enough for us to escape and bike together to New York. While kayaking we found a flat area to stop for a potty break and discovered a massive fossil pile. Every rock had more fossil imprints than the last. Everest is begging to return already.

The sunset on the water was the main show each night and we would kayak around until the stars took over the sky.
