Bic National Park never came up during any of my research about beautiful National Parks to visit, I had combed over the map a few times without seeing it, it was only when I decided nothing was in the area that I just googled campgrounds and it popped up. What a pleasant surprise, these trails rival any we have seen so far, the stone walls meeting right up to the ocean. To get here we first must cross the St, Lawerence River, more of a Sea than a river at this point.

We arrived early for our Ferry and the bus was awarded the Rose Dawson spot. It’s hard to explain how little we know about what’s actually going on often. We were assured with a thumbs up that we were in the right spot for the ferry and it worked out perfectly, but we still have no idea about if we have to stay in our car or get out, if we can eat or even buy food, if we can whale watch or will be stuck inside. So many unknowns to embrace but per usual it all seems to work out for the funner. The kids rock scramble around the shore while we wait for the ferry to arrive, I drive the bus up and on to the mid size boat, it’s exciting driving onto a boat and I am so relieved every time I reach a milestone on our trip and the ferry feels like a good ending to chapter one.
Driving off the bus is equally exciting and you feel like you’ve been teleported to a new world. We are now on Quebec’s eastern peninsula. We resupply at a small market on the way to our National Park for the night. I wish I spent an extra day here, we really experience only a small section of the park. Adding the bike rack this year has enabled Amy and I to bring our bikes for the first time, it’s paid off multiple times already. We unrack them and bike in a row out along a pretty bike trail which took us to our hike. The hike went through a healthy forest, often putting your hand on the enormous cliffs to your side so that you can get over the roots without tripping. It took us to a solitary beach all to ourselves. Everyone was having fun so we added a few trails and with a short road walk, made it a loop. The entire park can be biked to and hiked and my fomo is raging but we must move on, I just checked the itinerary and it appears on the surface that I planned a really fun day but we are going to need a miracle weather day.
